Bologna and Milan

Tyler was able to have three days off last weekend because his team did not have a game this past Sunday. (They usually play every Sunday) We had been anxiously awaiting his time off as we knew we were going to take advantage of it and do a little bit of traveling. And it was right before my birthday so it worked out great to do something fun around the time of my birthday!

Saturday we spent the day in Bologna. Although we have been to Bologna several times, Saturday was by far the best time we have had there. It was absolutely beautiful out and there were so many people out and about. The warm weather was just another reminder on how close we are to being home for the summer! We spent a few hours shopping and then we decided we were ready to head back to Forlì. While we were walking back to the train station, we saw that a church had it's doors open. We tried to peak in as we were walking by just to get a glimpse but all of these people were just walking in so I told Tyler "let's just go in so we can see it!"

It was absolutely breathtaking. It was so beautiful on the inside. The pictures do not even do it justice! We were in awe of the beautiful works of art.

Cattedrale Metropolitana di San Pietro

Absolutely beautiful!!!

On Sunday we went to Milan. After seeing the church in Bologna, I was even more excited to see the cathedral in Milan. What an unexplainable experience to see it! It is the 5th largest cathedral in the world and it is so massive! The architecture is mind boggling. Everything is so intricate and I have no idea how they made it without modern technology and machinery. We were also able to go inside of the cathedral. It wasn't as colorful as the one in Bologna, but like I said, it was the architecture that made the church breathtaking. I am so happy we got to see it and it is times like that when I have to ask myself "is this really my life right now?!"

We spent the rest of the day walking around and shopping again. There were crazy amounts of people. In Forlì, everything is closed on Sunday so it was a little weird seeing such an active city on a Sunday afternoon. Tyler said it reminded him of New York City (I've never been). It was a busy city!

For dinner we went to an authentic Mexican restaurant. Let me inform you that when we go to a restaurant in Europe that claims to be American, Chinese, Mexican, etc it really is not whatsoever and falls short of any expectation you might have. Everything is so bland and tastes nothing like what you think you are going to get. This place, however, was completely different! It tasted exactly like something we would get from a Mexican restaurant back home! Don't get me wrong, Italy has great food, but how much pizza and pasta can one person eat!?! The food was amazing and it was a nice change. ps... No one ask me to eat pizza or pasta with them this summer. 1. It will never taste as good as it does here and 2. I have had enough of it to last me about 10 years!

Having three days off was so nice. Tyler has been working so hard and he definitely needed and deserved a little break. We are truly blessed to get to do and see the things we do when he has time off!!

Next exciting thing on our list: Erica and Dan visiting us! They will be here in one week and we are beyond excited. We miss everyone so much and having some of our family here is going to be so awesome! We can't wait to show them our life in Italy!

March is here!

It is finally March and I am beyond excited! March is going to be an exciting month for us - Tyler has a little bit of time off and we plan on taking a couple of quick trips, my birthday is on the 11th, and Erica and Dan are coming to visit us on the 21st! We are counting down the days until they are here! We are so excited to experience time in Italy together with them and seeing some of our family is going to really lift our spirits! After that, we will already be into April and Tyler's last game is April 27th! Time is really going to start flying by and we will be home before we know it!

I will be back soon with some blogs on our trips - as of now we are planning on going to Pisa and Milan! Tyler has been super busy and we haven't had enough time to travel anywhere since our trip to Venice so I am very excited!

Until then, here are a handful of pictures I thought I would share. They are just random  pictures that have been collecting on my phone and a few game pictures that I thought you would enjoy seeing :)

Forli

Beautiful sunset in Forli!

Enjoying our morning coffee!

When people are on the street playing traditional Italian music on the accordion,
I feel like that is what you think of when you think of Italy!
